In an intimate moment on her Netflix series, With Love Meghan, Meghan Markle revealed that it was Prince Harry who first said "I love you." The Duchess of Sussex shared this long-awaited detail during a conversation with Queer Eye's Tan France, who was a guest on the show.

The revelation came as France asked Meghan if she had a specific moment Markle knew her relationship with Harry. "I can't help but ask personal questions," France began. "I'm known for it. Was there a moment you were like, 'I know that I love this guy?'"

The Duchess recounted their third date, a romantic five-day camping trip in Botswana. "You fell in love on your third date?" France asked. "So you really had time to fall in love those few days. That's nice."

"You really get to know each other when you're in a little tent together and it's like - 'what is that outside the tent?'" she joked, emphasizing how the unique setting allowed them to connect on a deeper, more personal level. France, seizing the moment, followed up with the question on everyone's mind: "Did you tell him first, or did he tell you?" Meghan replied, "He told me." France couldn't help but laugh at Meghan's reaction at telling the story. "You started to blush!" he laughed.

From a Tent to the Altar

Following their whirlwind romance and Prince Harry's early confession of love, the couple's relationship moved quickly. They announced their engagement in November 2017, and their fairytale wedding took place in May 2018, at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The globally televised event was a blend of British tradition and modern charm, captivating an estimated 1.9 billion viewers worldwide. The ceremony featured an impassioned sermon by Bishop Michael Curry and a gospel choir singing "Stand by Me," reflecting the couple's desire to incorporate both of their cultures into the day.

A New Chapter: Stepping Back and Starting Anew

After their marriage, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on their new life as senior working royals, undertaking official duties and tours. However, in a move that sent shockwaves around the world, they announced their decision to "step back" from their roles in January 2020.

This unprecedented decision, dubbed "Megxit" by the media, led to them relocating to North America, initially to Canada and then to California. The couple explained they sought financial independence and a life away from the intense scrutiny of the British press to raise their family.

Family Life: Archie, Lilibet, and the Future

Since moving to the United States, Meghan and Harry have embraced their new life as parents. They welcomed their first child, Prince Archie, in May 2019, and their daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, was born in June 2021. Their children's names hold special meaning: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is a nod to a traditional name and "son of Harry," while Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor honors both Queen Elizabeth II (whose childhood nickname was Lilibet) and the late Princess Diana. The family now lives in Montecito, California, where they continue their work through their charitable foundation, Archewell, and various media projects, including Meghan's Netflix series.
