An active shooter has been reported at the University of Arkansas, according to an alert from the school on Monday, Aug. 25.
"Avoid the area of Mullins Library due to an active shooter reported," the University posted on X, around noon.
USA TODAY has reached out to a university spokesperson. "We are unable to take your call at this time due to a potential campus emergency," the university media line's voicemail said just after noon ET.
It was not immediately known whether the threat had been deemed credible or if anyone was injured.
According to local NEWS5-TV the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the scene and were "clearing the library."
As of a 12:55 p.m. local time, the outlet said, no injuries had been reported.

Fayetteville High School, not far from the university, also sent an alert to parents and guardians on Aug 25 indicating the school was on lockdown, USA TODAY confirmed.
